Bio-based materials have arrived!

Lime and hemp shives have arrived for the workshop with WerkStatt Architects at the TU Delft: We are looking forward to the outcome of this minor project that is organised by Stephan Verkuijlen.

In this project we will learn about the properties of the material "hempcrete" by making a series of sample cubes with different mixtures of hemp shives and lime. The different mixtures have a different appearance and texture. After the samples are tested, bigger sculptural elements will be made which will inform us how to combine hempcrete with different materials. Finally this knowledge will be applied to the design of facade panels. This workshop is designed by Eline Haftiezer of Werkstatt architects and Simone de Waart of Matrialsense.
